NLAD Community Support

We are here for Our Community!

 

The primary goal of NLAD Community Support Services is to help Deaf clients in their efforts to increase independent functioning and quality of life by providing them with support, life skill development, access to local resources and treatment.

Program Services

 

NLAD currently employs a Community Support Worker. The worker is responsible for providing services to Deaf adults who use ASL and supporting Deaf adults as members of the Deaf community. Our services are provided at no charge, confidential and in an accessible environment using ASL.

 

The Community Support Program services include:

 

  • General Support Services

 

  • Housing & Shelter

 

  • Financial Supports

 

  • Services for Seniors

 

  • Health & Hygiene

 

  • Food Bank

 

  • Educational Workshops

 

  • Home Visits

 

  • Referral Services

We provide information and assistance in advocating for your rights.  We can attend meetings with you, your social worker, lawyer, landlord or whatever you may need. 

 

We will work with you to:

 

  1. Complete forms and applications

  2. Translate correspondence

  3. Navigate through government services such as:

    • Advanced Education, Skills & Labour (AESL)

    • NL Housing (NLHC)

    • Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)

    • Workplace NL

    • Service Canada (EI)

    • NL Health Services

  4. Renew identification (Driver’s License, Passport)

  5. Accompany clients to appointments
